“END OF THE ROAD สุดปลายถนน (2022)” หนังอาชญากรรมสุดบีบเค้นในสถานการณ์คับขัน แม้ว่าจะเป็นหนังที่เต็มไปด้วยสูตรสำเร็จซ้ำซาก แต่หนังก็ใส่เกียร์ไม่ยั้งและพุ่งออกตัวแรง ทำให้ผู้ชมลุ้นระทึกจิกเบาะได้อย่างเซอร์ไพรส์ไม่เบา End of the Road สุดปลายถนน เป็นเรื่องราวการเดินทางย้ายบ้านแบบข้ามประเทศที่กลายเป็นเส้นทางสายนรกของ เบรนด้า กับลูก ๆ ทั้ง 2 คน กับ เรจจี้ น้องชายของเบรนด้า หลังจากไปพบเห็นเหตุการณ์ฆาตกรรมสุดโหด ครอบครัวนี้จึงตกเป็นเป้าหมายของฆาตกรลึกลับ ขณะอยู่กันเพียงลำพังท่ามกลางทะเลทรายในนิวเม็กซิโกและถูกตัดขาดความช่วยเหลือ เบรนด้าจะต้องหันมาเสี่ยงชีวิตสู้เพื่อปกป้องครอบครัวของเธอ

นี่คืองานของผู้กำกับหญิง “มิลลิเซ็นต์ เชลตัน” ที่ถือว่าเป็นผู้กำกับที่ช่ำชองในวงการทีวีซีรีส์มานานเป็นทศวรรษ ครั้งนี้นับว่าเป็นการหวนกลับมาทำหนังเรื่องยาวอีกครั้งในรอบกว่า 20 ปีของเธอ โดยกำกับจากบทหนังของ “คริสโตเฟอร์ เจ. มัวร์” ที่ได้ “เดวิด ลูเฮย์” ที่เคยมีประสบการณ์เขียนหนังทริลเลอร์คนผิวสีมาเยอะแยะ อย่าง Lakeview Terrace หรือ Obbsessed มาช่วยขัดเกลาบทหนังให้

แน่นอนว่า End of the Road เป็นหนังทริลเลอร์โร้ดทริปที่มีสเกลสร้างออกมาเพื่อเสิร์ฟจอเล็กโดยเฉพาะ ทั้งโปรดักชั่นและองค์ประกอบงานสร้างต่าง ๆ ก็ดูสเกลไม่ใหญ่นัก บทหนังก็แทบจะไม่มีอะไรแปลกใหม่ เล่าเรื่องราวไปเรื่อย ๆ แม้ว่าจะจำเจแต่ก็ยังเป็นโครงเรื่องที่เล่าได้สนุกและเพลินได้ดีตลอดระยะเวลาชั่วโมงเศษ ๆ ของหนังเรื่องนี้ เป็นความคลีเช่ที่ยังเอ็นจอยอยู่ได้

Wrote a lot of black film thrillers like Lakeview Terrace or Obbsessed to help polish the script.

Of course, End of the Road is a scaled road trip thriller made especially for the small screen. Neither the production nor the production elements looked very large. The script was almost nothing new. The story goes on and on, although monotonous, but it’s still a storyline that’s fun and enjoyable throughout the entire few hours of the film. It’s a cliche that can still be enjoyed.
